Pro bono work and community service

SRBC has a long-standing tradition of pro bono advocacy and service. Our involvement in pro bono work has ranged from handling complex civil liberties and civil rights cases to representing indigent criminal defendants in state and federal courts. We regularly work with organizations such as the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, the Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, the NAACP, Greater Boston Legal Services , the Volunteer Lawyers Project, the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and the Committee for Public Counsel Services. In addition, many of our lawyers have served as officers and directors of professional and public service organizations with a strong pro bono component, including the Boston Bar Association, Greater Boston Legal Services and ACLU of Massachusetts. The Anti-Defamation League, Boston Bar Association and NAACP are just some of the organizations that have honored us with awards for professional and pro bono achievements.

We are also committed to responsible citizenship in a broader sense throughout our community. As a firm, and as individuals, we support a variety of charitable and cultural organizations and encourage everyone in the firm to participate actively in their communities. Our present ranks include officers and directors of numerous community-based and civic groups, including non-profit organizations serving disadvantaged youth, local government committees, and educational institutions, as well as arts and cultural organizations, ranging from Celebrity Series of Boston to the Rainbow Tribe dance company.
